Although I feature many shops in my posts, there are always more worth mentioning.


Located just south of Santa Barbara and Montecito in the charming beachside town of Summerland, Botanik is a destination for garden enthusiasts, discerning designers and those anxious to indulge their senses.   Set within the backdrop of a 1920’s Victorian, the boutique offers ever-changing collection of unique wares fills both the interior and private garden of this stop along California’s Central Coast.  Things from Europe too.

There's no place like The Apple Farm, San Luis Obispo, CA., a gorgeous Inn, Restaurant, Bakery, Mill House, Spa and Gift Shop.  Featured in the movie "My Blue Heaven" starring Steve Martin (he meets his "mob" friends for lunch at the restaurant while he's in witness protection).

They had more than one home...this one below is in Capri taken when I visited in 2012.  It's located on the opposite side of the island where the Marina Piccola (small marina) is located.  Truly wonderful location for a wonderful star...see my Capri here

Anjelica Huston's Three Rivers Ranch

Anjelica Huston is a beautiful woman who has a  simple yet  colorful, expressive ranch house  in Three Rivers, CA .  I'm featuring it because it's very near my home town.   She's one of my favorite actresses with so many credits to her name.  Most are not familiar with  "Family Pictures",  a two-part TV adaptation of the Sue Miller novel of the same name. Anjelica and Sam Neill are a 1950s married couple with six children, one of whom, Randall, is autistic . The parents' initial decision not to institutionalize the boy results in a terrific strain on the rest of the family.                         She also played an Italian in "Prizzi's Honor" directed by her father.     Vogue Italia  recognized Angelica's 60th birthday recently by displaying many of the above photos.  She is pictured with Jack Nicholson, her longtime friend.  At her ranch house at left.   A look at her Ranch House. ..continue...
