The Talented Mr. Ripley and A Good Year Films

I recently watched the movie, The Talented Mr. Ripley (again) and was surprised to see the same three stars were in another movie recently. Matt Damon, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law also starred in the movie, Contagion. The Ripley film featured many great European locations especially in Italy. To the left is the historical coffee bar Cafe Florian, the oldest cafe in Venice in the main Piazza, St. Mark's Square where the stars met several times throughout the movie.

were used to film the movie. Below:

The Hotel Europa and Regina, Mr. Greenleaf''s (Jude Law) hotel in the movie. Doge's Palace, a famous part of Venice is in the background and to the right. This ares is also seen in the movie, "The Tourist"...see my post here.

The water taxi's known as vaporettos (lower right in photo) are an inexpensive way to see all of these sites including the Rialto Bridge below. Vaporetto stations are right outside the main train station.

There are excellent restaurants and nice hotels in the area of the bridge.

Ripley also stayed in the town of San Remo, Italy. San Remo is near the French border and Monte Carlo, Monaco (above). SR is actually a fishing village.

A Good Year (2005)

A Good Year starring Russel Crowe and directed by Ridley Scott, was a romantic movie filmed in the picturesque region of Provence, France. Below, Crowe inherited grape vineyards and the Chateau Canorgue (Chateau Siroque) located near the village of Bonnieux, Vaucluse, France. There are plenty of tourists and tours in this beautiful area made popular by the movie.
