Weddings in Italy

Charming Tuscany is probably the number one region for weddings.

Ever thought of having a dream wedding in a romantic country like Italy?  Many couples are splurging on weddings and honeymoons in Italy and other parts of Europe every year.  

Whether its the beautiful Tuscan hills, a castle, historical ruins or Mediterranean seaside resort, these settings are perfect for beginning a new life as a married couple.  

Some celebrities who've exchanged vows in Italy are Justin Timberlake (Puglia region), Tom Cruise (Rome), and Giuliana Ransic (Capri).  

There are certain wedding regulations to follow but the many wedding services provide assistance with this and other important arrangements.  

But which city to choose in a country with so many well known romantic locations?  Consider some of these...

for their tourism, ornate monuments, historical churches, charming streets, fresh foods and overal natural beauty.  Most importantly, try to pick the off-season for obvious reasons to have the nuptials.

Top: The famous Madonna Church in Montepulciano (Under the Tuscan Sun); Santa Maggiore Church in Rome (largest church in Rome); Portofino bay; SM Church; Duomo in Milan (largest Duomo in Europe).

Venice is romantic with singing gondoliers, beautiful buildings including the fabulous St. Marks Church, the cozy waterways--remember its usually very crowded in the famous cities. 

One of my personal favorite setting is the hilltop town of Orvieto (below) where the grand Duomo is fairly quiet in the off season.

Many popular are the Tuscan areas of Siena, Lucca, Chianti, Pienza etc., for weddings because of the rustic wineries, smaller churches and scenic fields.  There are plenty of wedding services available in these regions.

Smaller hilltop town of Pienza in Tuscany (above) provides some of the most beautiful views of the rolling hills, farms and grape vineyards.

The "stacked" towns of the Portofino, Cinque Terre, Positano and Capri are all along the Mediterranean or Tyrennean seas, breathtaking in their own right.  They're a must see on the honeymoon at least.

Couples can consider the romantic towns of Cortona (Under the Tuscan Sun) and Verona, where three of Shakespeare's plays are set, including Romeo and Juliet. 

If you prefer mountains or lakes, Lake Garda and Lake Como are excellent choices.

This couple is in front of the Roman Forum in Rome where it can be very crowded no matter what time of the year you're there.  One can walk from the Forum through the Ruins, and to the Coloseum very nearby.

Capri offers the most amazing blue grottos and Mediterranean views plus many great restaurants that grow their own fresh produce.  An assortment of beautiful gardens and luxury hotels are available.  Giuliana and Bill Ransic said their vows in a local church in Anacapri nearby.  This photo was taken near the back side of the island.

Positano along the Amalfi Coast is one of the most amazing cities with its breathtaking sea views from all over the town.  Its also known for great shopping, fresh sea foods, outdoor dining, gorgeous hotels and churches...
